Welcome Offer

Like many papers and magazines these days, Closer has got on the online bingo bandwagon, and like many of its predecessors, it’s had little success! The site itself is designed in the style of the magazine, which claims to bring the latest news, features, and entertainment updates to you, but that’s where the similarity ends.

Partnered with the Virtue Fusion network, and operated by Bauer Media, it is technically good, but provides little exclusive value, and falls short of some of the bigger Virtue Fusion brands which provide massive value in terms of extra bonuses and promotions.

That said, potentially the biggest reason to give Closer Bingo a go is their warm £25 welcome bonus, which you will receive as soon as you make your first deposit of £10 on the site.

First Impressions

The home page is clean and quite girly, with good tabs to the main pages on the site, large banners with the welcome promotions, links to the bingo rooms and top games, and more details about other promotions when you scroll down.

Signing up can be a nightmare if you’re registered with any of the other sites in the network, and you may have to log in with your user details from one of those to get in – and will have to waive the welcome bonus if you’ve claimed one already.

Bonuses and Promotions

The promotions have some decent prizes attached to them, with daily Bingo Linx games with big jackpots, there’s a regular Winners’ Night with £30,000 worth of guaranteed prize money, and once a month there’s a £250,000 Friday Feast in the Big Night In room.

The Facebook page and Twitter feed are part of the Bauer Media Bingo brand, which also operates 21 other online bingo sites, so all the posts, bonuses, and information are not specific to Closer Bingo.

There is a good help section with links to all you need to know about everything from bingo to mini-games to social network apps, and you can contact a support team through live help with any further queries – although when we needed help logging in it said live help was not available, so not very helpful at all!

Bingo and Slots Games

The lobby is pretty basic, so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. There are six bingo rooms with a choice of 90, 80, and 75 ball options, plus speed and mixed game types, with cards starting at just 1 penny.

Games happen 24/7 in a few of the rooms including the Big Night In room – which perhaps should be renamed! There’s also a Joker Jackpot where a deck of cards is used instead of balls – which could be more your thing! The bingo room itself has all the details you need about the games and prizes, including a handy pop-up purchaser, although you can select your own cards if you prefer. There’s a good selection of mini-games to play while you’re waiting for the caller to start, but you’ll be glad for the automatic dauber as the calls are super quick!

You’ll also find a good selection of slots, scratchcards, and casino games in the lobby or from the home page tab, with all the favourites including Rich Treats, Blackjack, Roulette, and Sugar Train.

Summary

Closer Bingo is a run of the mill site, with nothing major helping it stand out from the big crowd of online bingo sites, but it’s visually appealing, has decent games and promotions, and if you’re a newbie, it’s as good as any place to start. It doesn’t seem to have big numbers of members, and you can feel a bit lonely in the bingo rooms, but we’re not here to make friends – are we?!

When you compare it to other Virtue Fusion sites like Winner Bingo and industry leaders like William Hill, it’s easy to see that this site cannot compete with the big boys. It lacks mainly in the bonuses and promotions department, but the site itself is not that popular and is lacking in several ways. I say try another site instead.
